Marks & Clerks hires new UK trademark head

Marks & Clerk has appointed Tom Farrand as the new head of UK trademarks, replacing Matt Sammon.

Sammon, who recently joined Kempners & Partners as partner, served in the role as partner and head of UK trademarks at Marks & Clerk for seven years.

Previously, Farrand served as managing director of trademarks at intellectual property consultancy Novagraaf.

David Ward, UK managing partner at Marks & Clerk, said: “Bringing Tom Farrand on board further enhances our trademark practice and is a real boost to the service we can offer our clients.”

“[He] brings a wealth of experience that makes him the right fit for Marks & Clerk as we continue to grow our team, and meet the challenges of an increasingly digital and technologically focused economy.”

Commenting on the move, Farrand said: “With offices at the heart of some of the UK’s most innovative regions, and ambitions to invest in and grow its team, now is an exciting time to be joining Marks & Clerk.”

“The opportunity to work with colleagues at the forefront of developments in trademark law is one that I relish.”
