DLA Piper hires Douglas Emhoff

DLA Piper has appointed Douglas Emhoff as a partner in the company’s intellectual property and technology practice and its media, sport and entertainment sector.

Emhoff, who joins from Venable, will be based in the firm’s Los Angeles and Washington DC offices.

He represents clients in various industries including, media and entertainment, digital media, sports, advertising, technology, hospitality and character licensing.

Commenting on Emhoff’s appointment, Roger Meltzer, global co-chairman and co-chairman for the Americas, said: “Douglas Emhoff has served as litigation counsel and trusted advisor for some of the biggest names in Hollywood and across the entertainment, media and sports spectrum.”

Meltzer added: “His arrival is an important strategic move for us not just in Southern California, but for our wider global sector capabilities.”

The appointment marks the latest move in DLA Piper’s West Coast expansion. In July, the firm revealed its merger with Liner LLP, effective 1 October.
