CIPU adds IBM’s Schecter

The Center for IP Understanding has named Manny Schecter to its board of directors.

Schecter currently works as chief patent counsel at IBM.

Commenting on the appointment, Schecter said: “I am delighted to have the opportunity to serve on the board for the Center for IP Understanding.”

“The centre’s timely mission, to increase awareness and improve attitudes towards patents and other IP rights, serves the general public and advances a much-need IP education initiative.”

Schecter joins Marshall Phelps, former head of IP business and strategy at Microsoft and IBM; Brian Hinman, chief IP officer at Phillips; Keith Bergelt, CEO of the Open Invention Network; Harry Gwinell, founding president of the IPO Education Foundation; and Bruce Berman, chairman of CIPU and CEO of Brody Berman Associates.
