The International AntiCounterfeiting Coalition (IACC) has signed a memorandum of understanding with the Danish Consulate General in Shanghai to help Danish companies’ with brand protection in China.

IACC president Bob Barchiesi and Nicolai Prytz, consul general of Denmark in Shanghai, signed the agreement in Copenhagen on 18 December, committing both organisations to information sharing on intellectual property protection, focusing on fighting online counterfeiting.

The IACC will also offer its MarketSafe programme to Danish companies as part of the agreement.

Barchiesi commented: “This partnership reflects our mutual commitment to protecting Danish companies’ intellectual property from counterfeiters.”

“We look forward to working with the Danish consulate in ensuring that Danish businesses have the tools and information necessary to do business effectively online and abroad,” he said.

Prytz added: “The general consulate is very committed in our endeavors to facilitate and enhance the presence of Danish brands on some of the major online platforms in China.”

He explained: "This needs to go hand in hand with protection of their intellectual property rights, and we truly feel the MarketSafe expansion program effectively can contribute to this. There is little doubt that this can add considerable value to Danish brands, and we look forward to the continued cooperation with the IACC on this.”
