Hilco Global launches new IP financing division
Financial services company Hilco Global has launched a new operating company, Hilco IP Merchant Banking, with Michael Friedman acting as CEO.

Friedman, a specialist in IP finance and investing, previously worked at Ocean Tomo where he advised on and managed dozens of multi-million-dollar IP transactions.

Friedman said the new company “will be focused on three critical areas within the intellectual property space, which will include financial and technology advisory services, proprietary intellectual property investing, and a dedicated team of monetisation experts to sell and license these valuable assets”.

The new division is one of more than 20 operating companies within the Hilco Global portfolio.

Jeffrey Hecktman, CEO of Hilco Global, said: “Hilco IP Merchant Banking adds a unique and critical capability to our current suite of valuation, monetization and advisory solutions.”

“This sector requires a unique and highly specialised skillset that will complement our current intellectual property capabilities in trademarks, domains and IP addresses.”

Joining Friedman at the new company will be John Veschi, who will act as COO, Gillian McColgan who will act as chief technology office, and Afzal Dean as chief licensing officer.

All three have had previous leadership positions at Rockstar and Nortel IP.
