Latham & Watkins makes round of promotions

Latham & Watkins has made a round of 31 partner and 12 counsel promotions, including the election of two IP attorneys to partner in its Century City and San Francisco offices and another to counsel in its Orange County office.

In Century City, Laura Washington has been promoted to partner. Washington works in the firm’s litigation and trial department, focusing on complex commercial litigation in the entertainment and media industry.

She works with clients in disputes of copyright and trademark infringement and has represented clients before state and federal courts.

Washington joined Latham & Watkins in 2015 as an associate. She previously worked at O’Melveny & Myers from 2009 to 2015.

The San Francisco office saw the promotion of Gregory Sobolski to partner. Sobolski works in the firm's litigation and trial department, focusing on representing patentees and accused infringers in the US district courts, the International Trade Commission and the federal circuit.

In Orange County, Latham & Watkins has promoted David Troutman to counsel. Troutman is also a member of the firm’s litigation and trial department and focuses on litigation and counseling of trademarks, trade dress, trade secrets, copyrights and a range of issues covering website owners and internet service providers.

He also has experience with patent disputes and general commercial litigation. He has practiced before state and federal courts, as well as civil jury trials.

All promotions are effective from 1 January 2018.

Bill Voge, chair and managing partner of Latham & Watkins, commented: “We are extremely proud of this group of new partners and counsel.”
