Brazil and Argentina partner for IP assets development


The Brazilian Innovation Agency has entered into a partnership with the Ministry of Science, Technology and the Productive Innovation in Argentina to offer mutual support to research scientific, technological and innovation development projects.

The agreement follows a recent memorandum of understanding signed by the presidents of the Brazilian and Argentine Patents and Trademarks offices deepen the collaboration of both countries with regards to IP.

According to Brazilian law firm Di Blasi, Parente & Associados, the agreement contains provisions for intellectual property assets developed in projects that have the public institutes of both Brazil and Argentina as partners. The partnership will last for five years.

The parties have agreed on mutually supporting institutions of science and technology, specifically, renewable energy sources, health and oceanography.

Commenting in a blog post, Di Blasi, Parente & Associados said: “[These] initiatives demonstrate that Brazil and Argentina are continuously engaging in new joint initiatives to foster innovation and IP.”

“An investment in the national business community is an important step for the Brazilian economic recovery, and the management of intangible assets is fundamental for companies to establish a solid basis in the current market.”
