IACC welcomes IP enforcement coordinator nomination
The International AntiCounterfeiting Coalition (IACC) has backed US President Donald Trump’s nomination for the new intellectual property enforcement coordinator.

Vishal Amin, who currently serves as senior counsel on the House judiciary committee, was targeted for the post on 7 April.

The IACC said it had strongly supported the legislation that led to the creation of position in 2008, and has worked closely with previous coordinators on behalf of rights holders in the US.

IACC president Bob Barchiesi said: “Amin’s years as a public servant in both the executive and legislative branches of government make him well-qualified to assume the position of US IP enforcement coordinator.”

“I urge the Senate to act swiftly in considering his nomination. IP is vital to the US economy, and the IP enforcement coordinator plays a vital role in developing and implementing a cohesive policy across the executive branch agencies tasked with protecting and enforcing IP rights.”

He added: “The IACC looks forward to continuing its collaborative relationship with the office and our other government partners in the US and abroad.”
